Changemakers blog 2

Lauren Fealy The recent presentations about historical change were a surprisingly insightful experience, especially considering how quickly the assignment came together. The entire process happened within a very short timeframe. Only three class periods were spent researching topics and then presenting them. Despite the limited time, the presentations covered a wide range of ideas about how societies have evolved over many years. Listening to everyone’s work made it clear that change is rarely simple or immediate, but instead happens gradually as people challenge existing systems and push for progress. The short amount of time given for the assignment made the preparation process feel fast-paced. With only a few days to research and organize information, there was little room to overthink or get lost in too many details. Instead, the focus had to remain on identifying the most important moments, movements, or turning points related to each topic. In some ways, this actually strengthe...

Changemakers reflection

This presentation was about the change makers that impact today world. Every group has a different century that’s shows them being a key figure in their century. The 1800 group was amazing, and I love how all their change makers were women (except Sophie who talked about Alexander Bell). The speech flow smoothly and easily from one presenter to another. Great teamwork displayed and was very informative. Group also had detailed videos like the one on Susan B Anthony. Tamia talked about Fredrick Douglas who was personally a change maker for me as an African American woman. Yarety did hers on Florence who was born in Florence that dedicate her life to nursing. I was surprised to hear that it was not a field of work women usually go to which is different from today’s time. It was the first time I hear about Lucretia Mott, who was a women rights pioneer and advocating for slavery to be abolished. Made the first women convention and the key part of women having the right to vote. Janis...

Changemakers reflection

America is going to be 250 years old on this year’s fourth of July.   This changemakers presentation reminded everyone how America became what it is today. From the people who established our constitution to our new age celebrities that have impacted our society. I found all the presentations educational, not only did I learn something from my classmates, I learned while conducting my own research. This being my second time presenting, I would like to add that I was a lot less nervous. I chose to focus on Benjamin Franklin. It was actually pretty cool digging into his life because he was such an iconic figure, could be considered one of our first celebrities. I spent a lot of time talking about how he used his pen as a weapon. Back then, you couldn't just "go live" or post a thread to start a revolution; you had to be incredibly careful with every word you put on parchment. It made me appreciate how much weight a single document like the Declaration of Independence carrie...

Changemakers Reflection Post

Joel Nelson - SPC2608 Blog Post #2 March 8, 2026     Watching multiple presentations during a full class period of presentations can sometimes feel like a marathon, especially when the topics involve history which if I'm being honest, has never really been my strongest subject. when I hear dates, events, and historical figures all being discussed at once, my brain sometimes starts to feel like it's buffering like Wi-Fi. so going into the presentations,  I expected it might be difficult to stay focused the whole time. Surprisingly though, that wasn't the case. each group did a really good job explaining their topic in a clear and engaging way, which made the presentations much easier to follow than I originally expected. instead of feeling like a long lecture, the class actually felt more like a series of conversations about how different changemakers influenced American democracy.     My group, Group 2, focused on the United States Constitution and the ch...

Change maker Reflection blog Post 2

February 06, 2026 Hannah SPC2608 Blog Post #1      Sitting through a long series of class presentations can often feel like a test of endurance, and I honestly expected to have a hard time staying focused today. However, I was happily mistaken. While every group did a solid job of being engaging and clear, Group 4 really stood out and managed to keep my full attention the entire time. Overall, I thought they were incredibly well-spoken and organized. They did a great job of keeping the energy light while still being informative, which made the material feel approachable rather than overwhelming. As a student, I really appreciate when a group can break things down so they don't feel like a stiff lecture. One of the biggest strengths of Group 4’s presentation was their delivery. Everyone spoke clearly and with a level of confidence that made it much easier to stay engaged. When presenters seem unsure or unprepared, it’s easy for the audience to mentally check out, but...

Successful Presentations

Lauren Fealy -  SPC2608 Blog Post #1 Sitting through a series of class presentations can often feel long and boring, making it difficult to stay focused. I expected this to be the case during these presentations, but thankfully, I was mistaken. While every group did a good job of being engaging and explaining their material clearly, one group truly stood out and managed to keep my attention the entire time, that being Group 4.  Overall, I thought they were well spoken, organized, and did a good job keeping the presentation light while still informative. What really stood out to me was how they made the material feel simple and approachable instead of overwhelming, which is something I really appreciate as a student.      One of the biggest strengths of Group 4’s presentation was their delivery. Successful Class Presentation

Isabella Santiago - SPC2608-2263 February 6th, 2026 Reflecting on Our Class Presentations: What I Learned and Took Away Watching and participating in class presentations was honestly a more meaningful experience than I expected going into it. At first, I thought it would just be another assignment where we present, listen, and move on. I didn’t expect it to have much of an impact beyond fulfilling a class requirement. However, as the presentations progressed, I realized that each one offered something different not just in content, but in delivery, creativity, and confidence. Seeing how each person approached their topic in their own way made the experience feel more engaging and less repetitive. This experience helped me understand how public speaking styles vary, how preparation affects performance, and how engaging an audience takes more than just reading information off slides. One thing I really appreciated was how diverse the topics were. Even when some presentations covered...
