Successful Presentations

Lauren Fealy -  SPC2608 Blog Post #1 Sitting through a series of class presentations can often feel long and boring, making it difficult to stay focused. I expected this to be the case during these presentations, but thankfully, I was mistaken. While every group did a good job of being engaging and explaining their material clearly, one group truly stood out and managed to keep my attention the entire time, that being Group 4.  Overall, I thought they were well spoken, organized, and did a good job keeping the presentation light while still informative. What really stood out to me was how they made the material feel simple and approachable instead of overwhelming, which is something I really appreciate as a student.      One of the biggest strengths of Group 4’s presentation was their delivery. Everyone spoke clearly and confidently, which immediately made it easier to stay engaged. When presenters seem unsure or unprepared, it’s easy for the audience to mentall...

Successful Class Presentation

Isabella Santiago - SPC2608-2263 February 6th, 2026 Reflecting on Our Class Presentations: What I Learned and Took Away Watching and participating in class presentations was honestly a more meaningful experience than I expected going into it. At first, I thought it would just be another assignment where we present, listen, and move on. I didn’t expect it to have much of an impact beyond fulfilling a class requirement. However, as the presentations progressed, I realized that each one offered something different not just in content, but in delivery, creativity, and confidence. Seeing how each person approached their topic in their own way made the experience feel more engaging and less repetitive. This experience helped me understand how public speaking styles vary, how preparation affects performance, and how engaging an audience takes more than just reading information off slides. One thing I really appreciated was how diverse the topics were. Even when some presentations covered...

Hannah Presentation Reflection

Hannah Hernandez -  SPC2608 Blog Post #1 Sitting through a long block of student presentations usually feels like being stuck in a waiting room—you expect a lot of repetitive slides and that glazed-over "zoom fatigue" look from the audience. But honestly? This class of Public Speaking has not been that at all. I feel interactive and well-versed in this class. Instead of just reading the textbook, we were basically teaching it to each other, which made everything feel way more relatable and, surprisingly, kind of fun. The whole thing was managed by Miley and Manuel, who kept us on track. Having project managers definitely took a lot of the stress of not knowing the order, and having that clear structure made the virtual environment feel a lot more manageable and less like a chaotic group chat. Group 1: The Foundation Group 1 started us off by covering the "foundational tricks." What I took away from them was that speaking isn’t just about the person at the front of t...

Chapter Presentation Reflection

Joel Nelson - SPC2608 Blog Post #1 January 29, 2026     Normally, when I hear that we will be sitting through multiple student presentations, I assume that it will feel long, repetitive, or difficult to stay focused. However,  for these presentations, each group was assigned chapters from Public Speaking: The Evolving Art where it covers specific topics about public speaking such as conducting your speech, different types of speeches, and how delivering your speech helps engage with the audience. I found myself not only paying attention but actually learning in a way that felt more relatable. and it was fun but informative experience.      The first presentation was done Group 1, whose chapters focused on the foundational tricks of a great presentation. what stood out to me the most from their presentation was how they explained that being a good speaker is not just about talking, but about truly understanding the audience you are speaking to. while their s...

Presentation review

For our first project in public speaking, we had to give a a presentation on chapters from the class textbook. These chapters gave us a blueprint for a successful speech. Starting with important tricks, getting ready, getting closer, and the different types of wonderful presentations for us to learn. These four sub topics were divided into four groups. I was gratefully placed in to group two. I was very happy to work with the people I did. Once we established who our leader was, we got together and organized quickly. Everyone wanted to do a great job and get a good grade, but we also wanted to really understand what we were talking about. Since we were collaborative, we were able to practice outside of class time. This allowed us to take constructive criticism from one another and help make each others presentations better. My groupmates were very confident as well, they had a positive impact on how I would approach this project. On the day of the presentation I should tel...
